The power of a righteous person for every single individual
And right now, the repentance of an individual person— it is like the repentance of an entire congregation; so, writes the Rambam (Maimonides). The Rambam writes that the repentance of an individual is accepted during the Ten Days of Repentance just as when a whole congregation stands and cries out. Just like when the greatest righteous man (tzaddik) stands and cries out. Right now, during the Ten Days of Repentance!

We must pay attention: during these days, right now, the Holy One, blessed be He, is knocking on our door. "Hello! Repent! Why are you sleeping?!" The Holy One, blessed be He, waits for us all year long. If we haven't repented, what does the Holy One, blessed be He, do now? He says: "I will come to them." They didn't come on their own? "Now I am coming down below." Why are these days so—why do they have such importance and such holiness? Because the holiness of the Divine Presence (Shechinah) now descends all the way down to the Nation of Israel. She is waiting for us—the Holy One, blessed be He, is waiting for His children to say: "Father, we want to repent! We want to draw close to You!" You can't do everything? But you can do part of it! You can do a little, you can feel regret. You didn't put on tefillin? Put on tefillin. You don't keep the Sabbath? Keep the Sabbath. You can't keep the Sabbath in every full sense? Do a part! Just let us see you move! Let us see you progress! Make a genuine step! Draw closer to the Holy One, blessed be He. Let us see that you are truly accepting it upon yourself. And right now, the repentance of an individual person— it is like the repentance of an entire congregation; so, writes the Rambam (Maimonides). The Rambam writes that the repentance of an individual is accepted during the Ten Days of Repentance just as when a whole congregation stands and cries out.
