  • Healing and a Segula for the Sick from Our Rabbi Yosef Chaim

    Our Rabbi Yosef Chaim, the "Ben Ish Chai," may his merit protect us, Amen, wrote in his book Lashon Chachamim — ten fitting (worthy) men should gather, and each one of the ten men shall make an acceptance of a fast while it is still day, in this wording:

  • Memorial Tikkun for the Deceased

    The Tikkun always helps elevate the soul from its current level to a higher one. Therefore, it is always good to perform it, even multiple times. It does not matter when the person passed away. In certain cases, the Tikkun must be done urgently. The Rabbi writes that if a deceased appears in a dream to a relative with a sad face or worn and torn clothes, it is a sign they are suffering and waiting for help. In such cases, the Tikkun should be performed immediately, until the soul appears in a dream with a radiant face and whole garments.

And it is a rectification for the sin of Adam the first man, and the sin of the Golden Calf, and for the blemish of the covenant [purity], and it is a remedy for those who are childless, and brings closer the Redemption."

Reading and reciting the Book of the Zohar helps cleanse and polish the soul.

And if a person should ask: "What is it worth? I don't understand what I am reading" —

Then the book Pele Yoetz gives a parable regarding this:

For example, a person went to a doctor.

The doctor asks him: "Yes, what seems to be the problem?"

He says he feels weak and isn't feeling well.

The doctor examines him and says: "He has high blood sugar".

"For blood sugar, we need to give him pills to lower his blood sugar levels".

He hands him the pills.

The patient says: "I don't want to take this".

"Why don't you want to? Take them".

He says: "I don't understand how this is going to heal me".

The doctor replies: "What do you care? I studied this illness at university for five years, and after all the research — this is the medicine; it works, it isn't harmful, it will help you, and it will lower your blood sugar so you can live.

Otherwise — may it not be upon you or me — you will face severe troubles: you won't be able to see due to the blood sugar, and, Heaven forbid, you could get necrosis and other severe problems.

Why do you need all these troubles? Heart conditions, strokes...

Why do you need any of this? Take these pills, and you will be healthy".

He says: "No".

"Why not?"

He says: "I don't understand how this will heal me".

"To understand it, you would need to study at a university. But it's a fact — if you take it, you will be healthy.

That's right, if someone wants to understand what it is, they have to study at a university for several years.

What does that matter? The bottom-line result is that it heals".

So says the Pele Yoetz, it is the exact same thing:

A person who recites the Holy Zohar — it heals him!

What do you care if you understand, don't understand, or how it works... it heals!

It has spiritual remedy virtues (Segulah)!

And therefore, it brings great satisfaction Above, annuls all harsh decrees from the Nation of Israel, and everyone should merit to engage in it.
