To be delivered from the Satan (accuser) and all troubles!
• The month of Elul — it takes a person and cleanses him. If he makes an effort, what does he do? Every day in the month of Elul, he engages in spiritual self-reckoning (Chesbon Nefesh). He thinks about himself, prepares himself, takes action, and acts — this will save him.
· Rabbeinu the Ari [Rabbi Isaac Luria] says: Anyone who wants to be saved from the Evil Inclination and to be saved from the Satan that pursues him, what should he do? He should take refuge in the month of Elul.
· The month of Elul — it takes a person and cleanses him. If he makes an effort, what does he do? Every day in the month of Elul, he engages in spiritual self-reckoning (Chesbon Nefesh). He thinks about himself, prepares himself, takes action, and acts — this will save him.
· And this can save him from all harsh decrees; it cleanses the person.
· Therefore, we must prepare ourselves in this month of Elul that we have been privileged to reach, to purify ourselves. This is a great gift like no other in the world — the month of Elul.
